The University of Prince Edward Island has produced several accomplished low brass performers. This project will bring together UPEI Professor of Brass, Gregory Irvine (tuba), with three former students: Eric Mathis (Associate Principal Trombone, Honolulu Symphony), Bob Nicholson (bass trombone/tuba, Foothills Brass / Charlottetown Festival Orchestra), and Dale Sorensen (trombone, Charlottetown Festival Orchestra; brass instructor, UPEI). These four musicians, while no longer all year-round residents of PEI, get together at least every summer to share their love for low brass by presenting recitals for various combinations of low brass from solo to quartet, often with piano accompaniment. In July 2010, these four musicians will be presenting a PEI Trombone Festival which will bring together Island trombonists and other low brass musicians, professionals and students, for a weekend of performances and workshops.

In three movements:

1) Rounds
2) Smooth Polyphony
3) Cascades

Premiered on July 18, 2010 at the University of Prince Edward Island.
