Way of Life is a composition for brass quintet based on large scale harmonic progression. It was written during a period when Derek was living in Vancouver and experimenting with a more minimalist approach to his compositions. Influences for this work include Michael Torke, Louis Andriessen and Steve Martland. The tempo is to be interpreted literally.
