Based on large-scale harmonic motion. The piece is to be performed in a quasi-jazz piano manner, very little pedal and crisp, clean articulations. The work dates from a period when Derek was living in Vancouver and composing many pieces using series of chords and minimalistic / cross-over styles as the basic backdrop for his works. Stephen Manes gave the first performance in Slee Hall at the University at Buffalo on February 22, 2002.
