A companion piece to In the Falling Dark 1 and In the Falling Dark 2. In the Falling Dark 3 is a celebration of Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley’s beauty; the dykes, rolling fields, “mountains,” the fresh air and the vast expanse of stars that are visible on a clear night. The piece is in three movements, each one evoking a particular facet of the Valley’s beauty. Listeners will hear the magnificence of an early morning sunrise, a melody that soars over rolling hills and dykes, the waves crashing on the shores of the bay of fundy (at high tide of course!) and the endless splendour of a clear night sky.

1. Sunrise in the valley
2. Tides and rolling fields
3. In the falling dark the vast expanse of stars become visible
