Reel Variations on a Jig is a set of 15 variations based on an original Jig. The work was composed for a New Music Kitchen Party at the 2013 Acadia New Music Festival, ‘Shattering the Silence’ which took place in Mark Hopkins’ living room. Attendees migrated between the performance space, the dining room and the kitchen. Several CMC Associate Composers were asked to compose short works. To create unity through the cycle of new works each composer was given a small fragment of music which they had to use somewhere in the composition.

Flute (preferably amplified)
Drum Set: snare, bass drum, one rack tom, floor tom, hi-hat, four cymbals, C#4 & D4 cowbells/almglocken
